There has to be some incredible things to believe about someone who is God, it stands to reason. Oh, and we know some of this we might need to sit down and have a chat about! But here are some of our core beliefs about our God.

God the one Creator-God and he is eternal

God is 3 persons in one – the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit

In the past God communicated in a very direct way and what he said and the accounts of what he did, including when God the son (Jesus) was born into the world, were written down and became what we know as The Bible. We can trust the Bible, learn from it and learn to live by. It is God-inspired

However good we try to be, we are all (no exceptions) way short of God’s standard. From the tiniest thing we do wrong to unimaginable crimes, they all (collectively called ‘sin’) keep us at distance from God and what he wants for our lives

But the good news is the Lord Jesus Christ is the one (the only one) who can remove that distance. He lived a sinless life and yet died on the cross (a punishment for everything we all have done/will do wrong). The End?! No!!! The Easter story is true. Death could not keep Him and he did rise from death and grave. The punishment wouldn’t have the last say. Life forevermore was established in Jesus’ triumphant resurrection.

We can do exactly the same!! One day we too can experience life forevermore but there is something we have to do (this is how we truly believe in God)…

– Acknowledge I am way off God’s standard, I have and do sin

– Believe Jesus die for my sins, and that he did rise from the grave, alive forevermore

– Repent (that’s something like, “I’m sorry, I have done wrong in your eyes God, forgive me, Jesus, I believe in you, be my Saviour)

The Bible encourages to be Baptised after we have done those things – it is an important act of obedience to Jesus’ instructions and a signal to others of the change we have made in our lives

God the Holy Spirit gives us the power to fight the pull to slip back into our old ways. He gives gifts and skills that will help us live for God and become even more useful to all around us. We should regularly pray that the Spirit of God fills us with every resource we need. We may do things we could never have imagined

The Church is made up of any and everyone who believes in God (the way described above), everywhere in the world. We meet locally in local ‘Churches’ and even if we do some things differently, we all commonly believe in meeting together regularly. Why? To worship and celebrate God, to encourage one another in our walk of faith, to pray, to remember Jesus in a particular (communion) and to learn from The Bible

The Bible is clear – whether you have loads of experience in the Christian faith or you’ve just started following God – EVERYONE is equally valuable and CRUCIAL in the life of the Church if it is to be as strong and effective as it can be

God wants us to be involved in helping one another and those outside of our church. We should fight injustice. And, as the Bible says, “to love our neighbour as if we were loving ourselves”

The Lord Jesus Christ. God the Son – He is coming back. He is getting our “forevermore” life ready. Please, there is a place for you!
